The appearance of Rhyth in JSRF was significantly redesigned from her previous incarnation, Mew, in Jet Set Radio. For this project, I sought to marry Rhyth’s sporty, knitted dress to Mew’s fur-trimmed hoodie. Paulina Russo’s 2022 knitwear collection, Relics, served as my inspiration for the futuristic yet familiar knit patterns expressed on the dress’ surface. Loewe women’s ready-to-wear Spring 2023 collection inspired the panniers that I added to the dress’ sides. The shoes are inspired by Ancuta Sarca’s kitten heels made from repurposed deadstock sneakers.
